Pets for Patriots is unleashing hope™ for United States military veterans and the nation’s most overlooked shelter animals through companion pet adoption. Learn more about how our adoption program works.

We offer veterans various benefits to promote the human-animal bond, reduce surrender back to shelters, and make lifetime pet guardianship more affordable. These include ‘welcome home’ contributions towards pet food and other basics, access to high-quality affordable veterinary care, and discounts on various pet goods and services.

Our hero program helps veterans with pet medical bills they cannot afford while our hardship program assists veterans in crisis. Both are designed to keep people and pets together during life’s temporary challenges.

Pets for Patriots is not involved in the acquisition or training of service animals, or the adoption of retired Military War Dogs.

Every day 17* veterans take their own lives. Every eight seconds a dog or cat is put to death for lack of anyone to adopt them. Companion pet adoption saves two lives. (*2023 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, US Department of Veterans Affairs)
